Artist's statement:

Series of paintings made between 2006 and 2009, with the surface as the main topic and, secondly, the human figure as "incognito being in a contemplative solitude. The topic of the surface is treated as an ending, while relating the representation of the surface of water with the two-dimensional surface of the canvas. By containing a human figure in this specific context -like the swimmer- they take to the representation of a plain color, to signify and relate to the surface of the water which contains the subject in a suggested depth and perspective. On the other hand, the swimmer is stated in a visual cleanliness that invites to quiet contemplation, to solitude. Formally, like an axis which intervenes an abstract color level, to give a meaning of depth and interaction with an environment that suggests perspective.
